Spring Design, California based software firm, launched Alex – eBook Reader for Android Platform in the Fall of 2009. A dual-screen, 6-inch Electronic Paper Display (EPD) gadget has announced its arrival with a bang.
This e-book device includes a removable SD card, speaker and headphone with built-in jack. Users can browse the web through Wi-Fi, 3G, EVDO/CDMA and GSM. The key features Duet Navigator that enables the reader to cut and paste content captured on the color touch-screen and re-send to the black and white EPD; saving battery life.
Based on Marvell PXA310 hardware platform. eBook interpretation and documentation on the E Ink panel, creating annotations and notes with the Wacom digitiser, while navigating the Golem LCD demonstration on the remaining broadside for web reach, transmission and email/IM makes it fundamentally different from other readers.
Beyond reading, multimedia, email, music and video players, Alex is designed for worldwide community of Google Android developers, who are constantly seeking more advanced and sophisticated applications for reading. This Reader allows you to download numerous applications wit ease, making your reading more pleasurable, enabling you to share your reading with your social network, even make calls over the Internet for your own real-time book club.
