Android Phones to Control Verizon Fios
This android journey is getting interesting every day. I try to learn new idea, concept, and technology that evolve in the “androidsphere” (don’t steal that term, I might be the first person to use it), things am glad to share with you. I just learned that Verizon has a fiber-optic television service, called Verizon FiOS. Wow, thats is very nice, how come none of you ever tell me that. No wonder Google wants a 1 gigabit internet. They definitely can use that for fiber-optic TV. Think about it.
But that is not the news, turns out that you can actually use your phone to control the service. You know changing channels and other cool stuff that you do with your remote control. But guess what, despite all the glory that revolve around iPhone, Verizon choose to test this idea on android phone. Owners of Motorola Droid and HTC Imagio can now dish their remotes and start flipping channels with their phones, while iPhone users watch with jealousy and admiration. You still thinking that this android idea is a joke? You better think again. I am quite sure is a matter of time before your cable service provider, Directv, and Dish Network have their own apps too. And if Apple stick with their current policies, don’t expect such apps in the app store soon, simply because Apple don’t like adult content, and all of these TV service providers have at least one channel that is rated MA. Will this be another area where android catches up with iPhone? The demand for touch screen universal remotes is growing, but why should I buy one if I can download an app for free to be android phone which is always in my pocket?
