After HTC worked with Google on Nexus One, they seemed to be moving up. Well maybe Apple is not too happy about that. Nobody can dispute the contribution of Apple to this ongoing smartphone industry. Afterall iPhone is the mother of all smartphone (which ever one uses “apps”).
Today Apple filed a lawsuit against HTC, alleging that HTC is infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed with the International Trade Commission in the Delaware district court. Apple didn’t specify any damages or injunctions it would like levied against HTC. “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, in a prepared statement. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.” HTC has yet to react to the lawsuit.
