Layar Content Store facilitates Virtual Reality in Exchange for Real Cash

No Comments Android, News

Android and iPhone both facilitates Virtual Reality in exchange for real cash from Layer Content browser through layer content store. The 1.6 million users of Layar from around the globe can now pony up their hard-earned cash to unlock content for use in the application. Layar will support multiple payment options and currencies, with the first being PayPal for use in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Much of what you can purchase in the content store will turn your phone into a virtual tour guide for select areas. A few examples of companies currently deploying the pay-for-content model in Layar:

  • Berlitz City Guides: Berlitz helps people experience the city’s highlights: the best attractions, coziest restaurants, most comfortable hotels, coolest places to shop and most fashionable nightlife.
  • Mouse Reality for Disney World and Disneyland: Helps find and navigate all attractions, shows, shops, dinning, transportation, and more in Disneyland and Disney World.
  • EyeTour: Explore Puerto Rico’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage through exclusive video content of historical sites, museums, restaurants, parks and more.
  • UK sold prices: ‘Sold House Price Data 2010′ – Check the latest UK residential Sold Price information as recorded by the Land Registry while on the move.

This facility will be extended in the future, and developers can get started on using paid content immediately with little hassle and no cost. Profits from sales are split 60/40, with the developer getting the majority of the share.

Layer users from listed countries mentioned earlier only need to download the latest version of the Layar augmented reality browser. Now this facility is only available for Android.

It is not so long ago when G1 came in the market I was really optimistic that Android enabled handsets are departing to triumph the heart of Smartphone users. From latest news it is observed that the demand of android is indomitable. Some great news for android fans…….

Astounding TV campaign for Droid

Millinon dollars Motorola and Verizones joint advertisement ahead the sales of android enabled handset in U.S. Smartphone market. The second largest Smartphone sellar, Droid , Now occupied 17%   AdMob’s U.S. smartphone requests and Google predicted that this rush can up to 30% of all Android handsets that access the Market.

I am wondering if the Droid Incredible would receive the same treatment and it appears a similar campaign is in store. Verizon has already launched an Incredible mini site and the first ad spot just appeared on YouTube. We have also spotted Incredible ad banners on many of our favorite tech blogs.

Verozone wireless stated that “ Forget what you thought you knew because you’ve never seen a DROID like this. The DROID INCREDIBLE, nothing short of its name.”

skyfire 2.0 beta

skyfire 2.0 beta

I am really tired of not being able to watches videos on the default Android browser. Skyfire is here to rescue. The app just lunched today. It got a great intro from techcrunch so I rushed over to the Android market and downloaded it for a test run. First stop was Hulu.com, I couldn’t get it to play any of the Hulu’s video. It took forever to download the home page. I also noticed a few glitch when using my touch screen keyboard with the app, too. Next I tried CNN.com. It worked like a charm with CNN videos. The video quality was nice.  I went over to ESPN.com. It worked prefectly with ESPN videos, too. Overall, the app does better with web pages that has only one video. I experienced difficulties using it on pages with multiple video links. I couldn’t watch any of Hulu’s videos.  Nevertheless, I it still a great app for Android. I expect the number of video consumption among Android phone users to go up within a few weeks or months. It is still in beta, maybe the next update will support Hulu.

Just search for Skyfire in the Android market to download the app. Now you can start burning some valuable time watching videos on your phone.  Check the video below for the full demo.

Android 2.2 and Flash 10.1 coming May 20

Google I/O is preparing for unveiling of Android 2.2(FroYo) to the pulic. We also predicted that Android 2.2  is coming with Flash 10.1 and the announcing date will be May 20th. Given that Flash 10.1 is tied to Froyo, this bodes well for a joint announcement.

Following the day of Google I/O, there are several Android sessions scheduled for the afternoon that are listed as TBA. They likely have no topic because they are related to Android features that have not been publicly announced. Google did this at last year’s I/O when they revealed Google Wave on the second day and directly followed it up with a series of sessions.

We also hopeful that first gene device will get an upgrade as well. A new version of the Market was pictured on a myTouch 3G with Android 2.2 and we have been told all first gen U.S. phones will eventually be upgraded. Actually, Google has stopped selling their ADP1 (HTC Dream) so maybe that device is on the way out.

CyanogenMod brings Android 2.1 to G1 and myTouch 3G

For your hacked G1 or myTouch 3G there are lots of custom ROMs based off Android 2.1 for the HTC Dream and Magic for awhile now, but most were not fully working.

After several weeks of a lot of hard work, the team behind CyanogenMod is close to releasing a public beta of their latest ROM – version CM 5.0.7 Ds. The new ROM is finally using Android 2.1 and includes many of the enhancements found in the CyanogenMod for Nexus One.

Android 2.1 will fit onto the myTouch 3G (HTC Magic) with no problems, but it will not fit on the G1 (HTC Dream) without some modifications (damn those pesky storage limitations). G1 users must install the infamous DangerSPL which re-partitions the NAND flash inside the device. If you have never flashed the DangerSPL, the guys on the CyanogenMod forum are putting up a how-to guide.

First time hackers might just want to wait a few weeks and see what Google reveals at I/O on May 19-20. For all we know, Android 2.2 could magically appear for some first gen phones.

Our friend @kmobs is back with another video giving a quick walk through of the new test ROM on a G1. It looks like one of our shirts found its way to his desk.

My Main Objective Was To Make The Whole Process of Writing A Blog From Your Phone Very Easy and Interactive, Kumar Bibek

No Comments Android, Android Apps

Blogging is more than a business, it is an industry. Smartphones have added a new meaning to blogging: blogging on the go. With free services from WordPress.com, blogger.com, to name a few, most people now have many blogs and continuously post articles. Travelling or not having a computer is no excuse for not updating your blogs while your loyal followers are waiting, because “there is an app for that”. Blogger.com is the number one blogging platform. We reached out to Kumar Bibek, who developed an Android app that makes it possible for Android phone users to blog on the go, here are his answers to our questions.

Blogaway

Blogaway

What is your objective for developing the Blogaway?
Blogaway is a blogger client for the Android platform. Some months back, having got my HTC Magic, I tried searching for a blogging app for my phone. I have a few blogs which I update quite frequently. I was not satisfied with what I found on the market. So, I thought of creating an app specifically for blogger.com, which would help people updating their blogs on the go. I started off with basic features and kept adding new features, and within a span of 3 months, Blogaway now has almost all the features which you will find very easy to use. My main objective was to make the whole process of writing a blog from your phone very easy and interactive. -

HP To Make Smartphones and Tablets

No Comments Android, News
hp palm

hp palm

After HP acquired Palm for $1.2b, Todd Bradley of HP wasted no time to reveal their objectives. He said, “Between smartphones, slates, and potentially netbooks, there are a lot of opportunities here.” Most techies and analysts believed that Palm’s WebOS is strong enough to compete with the iPhone, yet none of the company’s products is doing well in the market. HP has done well in the computer industry now it faces a big challenge of reviving a sinking company. If HP is able to make good on this promise may be Palm will become a popular alternative to Android, Blackberry, and iPhone in the near future.
