On a hot summer day chilling out in a movie theatre is the best escape route from the blistering sun, but standing in a long queue to buy a ticket is taxing. Is there a more convenient way to watch a movie? The answer- YES. Even though the Android market is still walking the baby steps in movie viewing experience unlike high quality iTunes App Store (iPhones) yet t here are some useful Android apps that can improve the cinema experience, both on the Android device itself and elsewhere.
YouTube is famous for its user-generated content, but the video service also offers full-length films. Using the “free” YouTube Android app, users can access full-length films and stream them directly to their Android gadget. Efficient and convenient, when users are able to remain connected to 3G or Wi-Fi network while viewing a movie.
Yet another convenient way to enjoy your favourite movie is through “Cinema” – a free Android app for viewing movies on your phone. Like a phone-specific player, the app allows you to save spots, search clips and pause the video. The app certainly improves you’re film-viewing experience; as it efficiently manages an existing video content on your device.
While Cinema isn’t a hub for finding films to watch, Redbox allows you to search films, create a queue, bookmark movies and locates Redbox kiosks around town in just 99-cent.
For regular movie goers, the IMDB Top 250 Android app walks an extra mile for you. The “free” Android app tracks IMDB’s top 250 films, with regular updates for the latest charts. Customize the list and manage it as you watch films. This app is smoothly integrated with YouTube and Netflix that offers additional search, information and viewing options.
Android phone users can readily manage their DirecTV account now. To watch programs at a later date on your DirecTV all you need to do is set your home DVR to” free” DirecTV Android app. This app allows you to search for the programs and reserve them for a later viewing date.
For TiVo users, check out the TivoRemote app at 99 cents. This app lets you control your TiVo Series3 and a few other set top boxes, all from your phone. The Android app requires a Wi-Fi connection; hence hard core users will find the best use of this premium Android app.
While for an easy remote control behaviour, RemoteDroid turns your Android phone into a mouse and keyboard. You’ll need Wi-Fi to connect your phone with your PC. The free Android app can then be used to access the saved movies on your computer. For those who have their computers hooked to their TVs can never forget an altering home-movie experience.
Still another remote control app that continues to expand its presence and feature set – Boxee Wi-Fi RemoteFree for Android users, the remote works for the set top boxes. With its continued growth and increasing points of access, Boxee will soon become standard for many android mobile users.

And, finally for film students and independent filmmakers, the Film Utility Android app is an interesting new technology. Priced at $1.99 this Android app helps to convert frames, feet and time-code to view the results simultaneously. Even though basic in approach, its timer capability is excellent.
