Blogging is more than a business, it is an industry. Smartphones have added a new meaning to blogging: blogging on the go. With free services from WordPress.com, blogger.com, to name a few, most people now have many blogs and continuously post articles. Travelling or not having a computer is no excuse for not updating your blogs while your loyal followers are waiting, because “there is an app for that”. Blogger.com is the number one blogging platform. We reached out to Kumar Bibek, who developed an Android app that makes it possible for Android phone users to blog on the go, here are his answers to our questions.

Blogaway
What is your objective for developing the Blogaway?
Blogaway is a blogger client for the Android platform. Some months back, having got my HTC Magic, I tried searching for a blogging app for my phone. I have a few blogs which I update quite frequently. I was not satisfied with what I found on the market. So, I thought of creating an app specifically for blogger.com, which would help people updating their blogs on the go. I started off with basic features and kept adding new features, and within a span of 3 months, Blogaway now has almost all the features which you will find very easy to use. My main objective was to make the whole process of writing a blog from your phone very easy and interactive.
What features will you be adding to Blogaway in the near future?
Blogaway heavily depends on the Google GData libraries. As of now, the only major missing feature is that of uploading multiple pictures/videos with a post. This feature is currently not supported by the GData APIs on Android. I am still waiting for the new GData APIs to support this and will be adding this feature to Blogaway as soon as it is available.
Other than this, there are a few features that I am currently working on.
- Better Rich Text Editing
- Ability to format and position images
- Preview before publishing
What makes you interested in developing for Android?
Android is a great mobile platform. Being supported by Google, I am pretty sure that Android will never go down the hill. It is also supported by a huge developer base, where you can find answers to your problems in no time. I would say, developing for Android is easier than the other platforms that I have worked on. And of course, the openness of the platform, I am sure is a major reason for pulling in so many developers all around the world. The developer base is increasing day by day, and today, iPhone is not the only cool smart phone.
