Most kids love playing with their parent’s phone, especially while in the car. There are few good educative game apps in the Android market, “Kids Numbers and Math” is one of them. The app is fun and colorful; your kids will find it challenging, too. We contacted Ivan Trusov, the developer who considered his son his “beta tester”. Here are his answers to our questions.

Kids Numbers and Math
How easy was it for you to start developing for Android?
It was pretty easy for me. I have been developing on Java for almost 7 years. Recently I became an owner of a Android device. So decided to make a try.
Would you advise another developer to enter the Android app business?
Not sure about business but for fun I definitely advise.
How is your app doing in the Android market?
Not so good as I expected.
Given that your app is an educational game for kids, what do you think is the present level of game development in the Android community?
I can name ten or so games I’d consider really great for Android but Android is still young to a degree so it’ll probably take some time for the really good stuff to come out. I think games overall will improve greatly. At least I hope so.
What is the motivation behind the development of the app?
Each developer has his own motivation. My motivation was to learn the platform and make a game for my son. Now he is my beta tester.
What do you think is missing in the Android platform?
I don’t think it missing anything. By now the main problem is a fragmentation that has already left users running not one, not two, not three, but four distinct versions of the Android OS (1.5, 1.6, 2.0, and 2.1). They say that next two versions (Froyo and Gingerbread) aim to end Android platform fragmentation. Let’s hope this comes true!
