Greg Brown, Motorola’s Co-chief Excutives officer recently stated Bloomber that Motorola was ready to own mobile OS to enhance their growth and this was their first deal.

It is spotted in linkedIn profile, it depicts Motorola has acquired mobile platform company Azingo. This less known company makes own operating system called Azingo Mobile 2.0 which is based on the Linux platform. Azingo Mobile 2.0 already includes a comprehensive application suite including a Webkit-based browser, web runtime, Flash runtime, and full developer tools.

Sanjay Jha, Co-CEO, said they are trying to get their own operating system in the first quarter of 2010 in a earnings call.

“I’ve always felt that owning your OS is important, provided you have an ecosystem, you have all the services and you have an ability and the scale to execute on keeping that OS at the leading edge. And I continue to believe that at some point, if we have all of those attributes, that owning our own OS will be a very important thing.”Sanjay JhaCo-CEO Motorola

Google currently has a very strong partnership with Motorola, but i guess anything is possible.
