With The Social Network getting a huge amount of critical acclaim Nationwide, we believe a film about the creation of Google is busily being assembled, based on the book Googled: The End of the World as We Know It.
The rights of the book bought in August by the famous production company – Groundswell (behind the Oscar-winning Milk, Appaloosa and The Informant)
Since then, The Social Network has emerged in the US, making $23 million in its first week. Fox has even grabbed the TV rights to the movie and will be showing it on FX in 2013.
Google has been bowled over by the success of The Social Network, and believes the book behind the forthcoming movie is as engrossing as The Social Network’s source material, and therefore will make for an interesting movie.
Speaking to Forbes, a spokesperson for Groundswell revealed – a screenwriter is now being sought for Googled, and hoping for a 2012 release date. Interested anyone?
