You always desired to be Mozart on your Android phone but had no clue how to? Enter Ringdroid and learn how you can become a composer. The sole purpose of Ringdroid is to allow you choose an existing music file, crop it according to your need and save it as either a ringtone, an alarm, or a notification.
Select it as a wakeup alarm or use it as a notification tune, or simply impress your friends with your version of tune.
Step 1: Download Ringdroid from either the Android Market or scann it with the Barcode Scanner app.
Step 2: Post installation of Ringdroid, copy the music or sound files onto your phone’s SD card. You can choose to process this step over Wi-Fi by using SwiFTP. Alternatively, use Awesome Drop App.
Next plug in the phone via USB and enable disk mode. Or transfer the files via Bluetooth File Transfer. Pop out the MicroSD card and plug it into your computer. Download the attachment and email it to yourself.
Step 3: Once your media file is ready for editing, fire up Ringdroid. A list of audio files found on your device will pop up. If you don’t see yours, press Menu, and click the “Show All Audio” option.
Next, select the audio file you want to customize as a ringer, notification, or alarm sound. A wave graph enables you to easily start and end your custom sound. You can play, zoom in and out, move the sliders around, or specify exact start and end times manually. Save it once finished.
In the popup, select Alarm, Notification, or Ringtone to have the newly created sound display in the appropriate menu. Optionally, on the next screen, you can pick “Make Default” or “Assign to Contact” without having to edit settings or contacts.
Viola! You’ve created your masterpiece!
However, Ringdroid (2.4) seems to carry a bug, and hence you may find a duplicate ringtone with slightly different spacing. No big deal, it will be fixed soon.
Whenever you desire to remove your composition, use Astro and remove the media file. Reboot and refresh the phone to erase all traces of your composition.
