Retina display is no more restricted to Lenovo’s Laptop and WVGA display is outdated. This statement was proven “true” by Sharp, with its launch of IS03 for Japan’s KDDI au network. The company has also broken the usual 800 x 480 Android phone mould, with its stupendous resolution of 960 x 640 on 3.5-inch wide screen.
Sharp IS03 matches the iPhone 4′s so-called retina display, as it boasts about the exceptional Advanced Super View (ASV) technology that delivers the same kind of viewing angle benefits you find in IPS.
If you’re still not impressed, read its monstrous spec sheet that features 9.6 megapixel autofocus camera with image stabilization, one-seg TV tuner and Osaifu-Keitai, that allows the phone to be used contactless payments like subways.
Even though it’s being exclusively sold in Japan, yet you may eventually see it globally. Thanks to Global Passport CDMA technology, which means countries operating on operating CDMA networks will be able to use the IS03.
Unfortunately, it’s slightly outdated on the OS, as it runs on Android 2.1, however the monster hardware is enough to overcome that little oversight.
We will bring more news on it, when it launches in three colours next month.
