Google Calendar is a handy tool for scheduling and organizing meetings. It would be good, if somehow guests could be informed if their presence is essential or not.

Well now it is possible with Google’s new add on feature of Optional Attendees in Google Calendar. With this introductory feature, you can communicate with guests a wee bit easier. How to get started? Hit the Create Event button in Google Calendar. Go to Add Guests for adding attendants according to your requirements. Below the Add Guests box you will find the Optional Attendees box, tick mark it to make some attendees optional clickable link. What you will see is, it will put an icon just before every Guests’ name/email. Simply click on the icon to turn it from Black to White and mark those guests as optional attendees.

The feature will be rolled out on Google Calendars shortly. So, next time you think invitation is a tiresome process, think again, you have Optional Attendees feature.
