Google Earth Gets 3D Seamless Street View

No Comments Google, News

The updated version of Google’s global mapping program allows you to enjoy a seamless 3-D walk on the streets from the comfort of your chair. Referred as Street View mode, the new interface allows you to enter complete360-degree landscape view of the streets by simply zooming on them. Though introduced two years ago, Street View required activation by clicking camera icon. However, today the same features seamlessly integrated for that perfect view.

So what does Street View offers? The updated version offers users:

  • Highlighted streets in colour blue
  • Drag Pegman (orange guy) to help navigate Street View mode
  • 3D trees incorporated in tandem with the street view mode for more accurate and aesthetically pleasing geography.
  • Enable 3D trees via 3D buildings layer on the left side panel. Click the zoom slider to reach the ground and see it in action in the ground-level navigation mode to walk among the trees.

Read what Goggle says on its blog:

“Unlike our earlier Street View layer, you can now move seamlessly from one location to another as if you’re walking down the street by using the scroll-wheel on your mouse or the arrow keys on your keyboard.”

While we’ve just gotten started planting trees in Google Earth, we already have more than 80 million trees in places such as Athens, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Tokyo.”

Can’t wait to try out the new features, head over to Google Earth 6 now.
