Android shipment dominating iPhone

No Comments Android, Apple, Google

Google’s Android absolutely dominated the iPhone in the U.S. for third quarter shipments, research group Canalys reports.

As you can see below, Apple shipped 5.5 million phones. But the OHA, or Open Handset Alliance, which uses Android shipped 9.1 million phones, giving it 44% of the smartphone market.

That’s up from the previous quarter when Android only had 34% of the market. As we enter the Holiday buying season, expect more market share gains for Android in Q4.

In the first quarter of 2011, we could see Apple start to challenge Android if it sells the iPhone on Verizon and T-Mobile.

The good news for Apple from Canalys? It’s now selling more phones than RIM, which is falling out of the race very quickly.

No Comments Android, Android Apps, Apps, Google

Even though the Android Market is open to all apps, Google has shown that not every app is welcomed by pulling the plug on Secret SMS Replicator, an app that is used for secretly forwarding text message without owner’s knowledge.

Review: Frozen Bubble App

No Comments Android Apps, Android games, News

Produced by Pawel Aleksander Fedorynski, the Frozen Bubble Android is a Bust-A-Move type of game for Android users. The objective of the game is to clear the bubbles atop the screen by hitting them with another bubble of the same colour. This game has a level editor that can be separately downloaded to create different kinds of shapes and things with the bubbles to make new levels.

High quality and well-done graphics. Game controls contain two different elements that enables aiming and shooting. To aim the machine that shoots the bubbles, simply drag your finger on the screen anywhere below the blue line. To shoot press once on the screen anywhere above the blue line.

An ad free version costs $1.26, however if ads don’t bother you then download it for FREE.

Verdict: An exciting game that will keep you engrossed for hours. Good job Pawel!

Which is Better – HTC Desire HD OR EVO 4G?

No Comments Android, Android phones, HTC hero

We have seen the HTC flagship with its series of latest Android Smartphones has given a tough competition to Windows Phone 7 sibling – HD7. But, how does the current versions of Android phones fared against the original Android giant, Sprint’s EVO 4G?

Even though the devices share common 4.3-inch WVGA displays and 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, yet they are different when it comes to radios- HSPA+ versus CDMA / WiMAX and processors- 1st G Snapdragon in the EVO, 2nd G in the Desire.

The fact is these two phones actually have different personalities. HTC Desire HD has aluminium unibody case and the EVO 4G’s HDMI output and kickstand. What’s your take on it?

Is Mecha the next HTC Android Superstar?

No Comments Android phone spec, News

HTC aims to lead the bandwagon of the Smartphone industry and it has done it once again with the development of a new Android handset, codenamed HTC Mecha.

The phone has shown up numerous times in the ‘Choose your phone’ section of the account creation screen for HTCSense.com, the company’s new phone portal to keep track of your phone’s content and location.

Listed under the Desire HD and Desire Z is the Mecha, along with a picture, displaying right next to HTC Hero. We thought that the information has accidentally leaked, but soon we realized it’s a high profile phone that doesn’t require accidental leakage.

It’s highly unlikely that HTC Gratia and HTC Hero with upgraded versions will land in November. Therefore, we’re sure HTC Mecha is a brand new launch from the HTC brigade. We hope it’s not plainly a US variant with a new facelift, and it’s brand new.

Let’s wait and watch how the table turns, when the phone will release this month. Don’t go anywhere, we will keep you posted on HTC Mecha.
