Google has been consistently updating its Mobile Apps and the Android OS with better features and capabilities. Recently they launched Android 3.0 aka HoneyComb at CES 2011 and last year they released GingerBread aka Android 2.3 that features an excellent and improved keyboard for Android Mobile Phones. Untill now the new Keyboard was available exclusively for Ginger Bread users, but not anymore!

GingerBread Keyboard is now available as an independent App from Android Market, FREE. Though Google has not officially launched this app, an individual App developer to Android 2.2 Froyo users has ported it. Follow the instructions below and enjoy the new keyboard on your phone.

Step 1: Install Android 2.3 Keyboard from the Android Market

Step 2: Once installed, click Menu > Settings > Language and Keyboard

Step 3:  Select “Gingerbread Keyboard” and edit settings to your preference

Step 4: Visit Gmail, SMS or Notepad to enter text. Long press the entry field and tap “Input method”

Step 5: Select “Gingerbread keyboard” and start typing
