Though Eric Schmidt did not reveal much regarding the future of Android at Barcelona, but he dropped an interesting hint – the next version of Android will “start with alphabet I, be named after a dessert” and combine Gingerbread for phones and Honeycomb for tablets into a cohesive whole.

We are guessing that he’s talking about Ice Cream, and we will see this new version bridging gap between phone / tablet display size.

On the release date front, not much was said either, only a “six month cycle,” was hinted. Considering that Honeycomb has yet to be officially launched on devices, we feel the new wait isn’t much, but we definitely are an eager beaver to know more.  Keep tuned!
