Dropcam, Inc. San Francisco based intelligent video hardware and services provider, allows users to check in on their family, assets or anything they care about from any location on any device. Dropcam currently offers two wi-fi video cameras – Dropcam Original (video-only) and Dropcam Echo (video and audio). The company also offers Dropcam DVR, a proprietary cloud-based service with cutting-edge data analysis capabilities created so that users never miss an important moment.
Until recently services were offered on iPhone, but now are Android friendly as well. Today, Dropcam has a dedicated app for Android users for Dropcam Echo, launched last summer. The app works full-fledged for Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher.
The key advantage with a Dropcam setup is that it’s completely cloud-based, and does not require a home computer connection to record or share videos.
As for the Android app, it will allow you to receive things like motion and audio alerts, and lets you check in on a live stream or access recordings. Test it out on public webcams.
