I’ve often wondered if Android would ever challenge the Apple iPod? And I’m glad to tell you that today, Samsung has announced it’s upcoming Galaxy Player 5- an inch smaller than it’s big brother Galaxy Player 4

The Android powered Wi-Fi media player runs Android 2.2 aka Froyo with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI, and 1GHz Hummingbird processor. The larger Galaxy Player 5 will support a 5-inch WVGA display, while smaller Galaxy Player 4 will feature a 4-inch screen.

The device was flaunted at Mobile World Congress, but was kept under the radar to gauge consumer reaction before deciding to proceed. Whether they’ve made the right move or not, is a matter of debate. What do you feel? Leave us your comments below.
