Facebook to cut the switch on Beluga

No Comments Android, Android Apps

Beluga, the slick group messaging app that Facebook acquired back in March, is shutting down. In a post on Beluga’s blog, the company’s original team of three writes that, beginning November 11, you’ll no longer be able to send messages (though you’ll still be able to access old messages until December 15, at which point they’ll all be deleted).

If you’d like to download all of your pods before they get harpooned, you can grab an archive of your account using this tool.

The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Facebook launched a standalone Messenger app in August that included much of the functionality of Beluga (in fact, it was built by the same team), and at the time it said it wasn’t clear what Beluga’s future was. Which didn’t exactly bode well for the service.

Beluga first launched in December 2010, created by ex-Googlers Lucy Zhang, Ben Davenport, and Jon Perlow.

Pumpkins vs Monsters for Your Android

No Comments Android, Android Apps, Apps, News

You don’t encounter lots of apps that have been downloaded over 1,000,000 times having a 4.7 user rating. Pumpkins vs Monsters is just one of those programs, and it’s a highly habit forming game that is really fun to play. If you are a fan of games like Bejeweled or even Plants vs. Zombies! you will enjoy this one. Also, with Halloween only a couple of times away, it’s simple to get into, but I have a feeling your addiction will keep on longer once you the ghosts and goblins get disappeared.

The premise is simple; You have an variety of pumpkins, however, you must complement the various colors in groups of a minimum of 3 in order to show them at the monsters that are coming at you. You may also gather coins along with other gems in order to purchase other tools, which you’ll need as this game receives difficulty pretty quickly. You get the choice to play story mode, that has up to 90 levels, or endless way of hours of fun. My only problem is when leveraging the coins and also gems (to collect), it’s not as responsive because I would like, but you might find an alternative experience depending on which gadget you’re playing with.
