Facebook is feeling the heat, closes user account for advertising Google+
Finally Google may have a social product good enough to scared the social network giant, Facebook. In a report by CNET, Facebook closed the ad account of a user for advertising his Google+ account. The ad copy is shown below.
The message he received read as follows: “Your account has been disabled. All of your adverts have been stopped and should not be run again on the site under any circumstances. Generally, we disable an account if too many of its adverts violate our Terms of Use or Advertising guidelines. Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the specific violations that have been deemed abusive. Please review our Terms of Use and Advertising guidelines if you have any further questions.”
Facebook is feeling the need to protect itself from Google’s latest social effort, which has grew to over 10 million within a month of being launched.

Google Takes A Swing At Facebook: Removes Contact Syncing With Nexus S Update
Google got the ball rolling on Gingerbread updates for the two official Google phones – Nexus One and Nexus S, today. Sounds exciting, but the owners of these phones are left with some bitter taste in their mouths.
The ability to import the numbers and email addresses of all Facebook friends to Google smartphones contact list automatically is thing of the past. With the Gingerbread update for the Nexus S, Google has disabled this feature. While you can still look up your friend’s number in the Facebook application, the option to synchronizing their data with Android’s Contacts app will no longer exist.
In a statement released today, Google claims that the inability to migrate contact data from Facebook’s servers to Google’s creates a “false sense of data portability” and justification for their decision to remove the service.
The actions taken by each company will have relatively minor effects on Android users, but this move hits Nexus S owners hard and will clearly have implications for Android in the long term. It’s hard to imagine Facebook changing their policies before what Google calls, “future lead devices”.
It’s obvious this decision was designed to start a public outcry, but it is yet to be seen if this outcry will actually be directed at Facebook, as the public is used to their dictatorial approach to user data. Given this acceptance, I wouldn’t be surprised if the displeased Nexus S users directed their scorn at Google itself.

How To Find Android Deals on Facebook
Facebook for Android has been particularly slow to release updates and features in general. The Deals feature that became available on iOS since early November, 2010 has reached Android almost 3 months later. It is the only addition to the app, so let’s take a look at how exactly are you going to find the deals functionality.
Upon updating and starting Facebook, Deals button is nowhere to be found. Worried? Don’t be you will Deals are built into Places and show themselves using little post-it note looking icons in the check-in list. Click Places, then Check In, and look around. If you don’t see a yellow icon, search for something like “Starbucks” which should produce a long list of nearby places.
What you will notice is 2 types of deals – % or $ off (in yellow) and donations to charity (in green). If you are nearby the place you’re trying to check into, just hit Check In, and you’re done – the deal should now be redeemable.
Buckle up Facebook, we are waiting for the missing core features.
