Is Samsung Getting Cost Conscious and Delaying Froyo Updates on Are Samsung Galaxy S?

No Comments Android phone spec, Android phones

For past few weeks, we’ve been listening to several different excuses from Samsung for delayed updates of Froyo on their Galaxy S phones. Few days ago, we came to know that Vibrant 4G ain’t rollng out any time soon. And, now the saga continues, as a new anonymous source has stepped forth to clarify the issue.

Reportedly an insider who has stepped  up to  explain the issues behind the Android Froyo update to the Samsung Galaxy S phones in the United States, says:

Samsung provides “critical” updates to carriers for free, charges a small fee for “maintenance” updates, and a larger fee for “feature” updates. They are classifying the 2.2 update as a feature update, and carriers have yet to come to an agreement with Samsung.

Even though there’s absolutely no way to verify the legitimacy of the explanation, yet it sounds a reasonable excuse for holding back the upgrade. What’s your take on it?

Samsung Galaxy S successor due for MWC 2011

No Comments Android, Android phone spec, News

Samsung has a big strategy for selling more smartphones this year following announcement of the Google Nexus S. The company aims to sell 60 million mobile phones in the year 2011. We can expect to see more powerful and amazing devices like the slimmest Android – Infuse 4G unveiled at the CES 2011 last week.  An important piece of information comes directly from the horse’s mouth.

The Korea Times reported that Shin Jong-Kyun – head of Mobiles Division of Samsung, confirmed a new version of the Galaxy S phone would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona starting from February 14.

Back in November, a slide containing information about the Samsung Mobiles plans for the first half this year indicated a Galaxy S successor. Shin said that the new version of Galaxy S would run dual-core mobile processor – Nvidia Tegra T20 CPU or perhaps a new dual-core chip from Samsung. The display of course would be Super AMOLED (Active Matrix Light Emitting Diode) Plus technology based with higher pixel density. And, yes it will run the Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread for sure.

In addition, Shin also stated about revealing a Galaxy Tab roadmap for this year. We may get to see a Super AMOLED or AMOLED display bearing Galaxy Tab.
