Is Google working on taking Nexus 2 to the rest of the world?

No Comments Android, Google, News

Nexus one was not a big success in sales, it has a bigger success in transforming the Android-sphere. It was the first Android phone to be called a “super phone”. Google used it to introduce new and improved Android 2.0. The rest, as they say, is history.

Rumors are popping up that Google is starting to form new alliance to make the Nexus 2. The source has it that the Carphone Warehouse, will be working with Google as the single retailer for the forthcoming Nexus 2.  The Carphone Warehouse, is Europe’s largest independent mobile phone retailer, with over 1,700 stores across Europe. They are based in the United Kingdom.

If this is true, it means that Google in ready to take Android to the rest of the world and probably attack Symbian bases. While iOS, Blackberry, Android dominate the US, Symbian is still the big market leader in the Europe and the rest of the world.

What can you expect from the Google Phone

No Comments Android, Android Vs Iphone, Apps, Iphone
Nexus one

Nexus one

Now is almost certain that Google the “ultimate provider of free services” will have their phone on the market early next year. Google has confirmed that its employees are already testing the phone in house, a process where Google employees test their products before offering it for public users. While awaiting the phone I am filled with high expectations because of the following reasons:

1.

Google Vs Apple:

This will be the first real head-to-head battle between Google and Apple in hardware. Since coming up with Iphone, Apple has effectively triumphs every cell phone and smartphone manufacturer in both revenue and possibly sales. They did so while also expanding the cell phone userbilities. We now expect more from our cell phones far beyond making and receiving calls. Apple transformed the cell phone business. Google has proven to be a software expert, can they explore their software knowledge to push the limit of what Apple has shown us that smartphone are can do? I hoping that the Nexus will have 2 maybe 3 new hardware, software concept that has not be being explored before, and few of improvements on the old features.

2.

Google Voice and Video Streaming:

Google will have the ultimate decision in implementing the Google Voice in this case. I will also be expecting googlers to have prepared a perfect recipe for effective implementation of Google voice on the Nexus one. Google went shopping recently: acquiring On2 a video compression technology company. Will they use this new technology to improve video chat and video call, after all this technology must useful for something. They also acquired Gizmo5, expert in VoIP service. Google Voice + Gizmo5 (VoIP) + easily accessible WiFi + Google business Module (Free) >= Free VoIP. This could easily hurt the business of major cell service providers (at&t, sprint, and Verizon), and also change the cell phone business.

Lets us all cross our arms and wait patiently, but truth be told, anything short of an improvement on the Iphone plus a few extra free services will be a disappointment to me.
