Nokia handset to Control Your Home Appliances

2 Comments Uncategorized

Nokia has announced that it’s developing the Nokia Home Control Center that will enable handsets to control household devices and appliances. An imbedded software in the Nokia device that will be able to monitor energy usage, and switch off any appliance that is not currently being used, even when you’re remote from home, perhaps sitting at your office desk. A convenience factor, preheat your oven 15 minutes before you arrive home, so you can stick dinner straight in.

During a press conference, Nokia announced about the carbon footprint monitoring technology; from European energy firm RWE, which will use Wi-Fi enabled thermostats on each radiator. Nokia are promising to showcase this technology at its annual Nokia World Conference in December. I hope to hear more on this technology in the fall, until then we just need to be patient.
