The Australians grabbed the opportunity at CES 2011 as well, when they displayed their tablet- Evolve III Maestro at Intel’s booth. The tablet runs on dual-processors namely Android and Windows 7 with 1.83GHz Atom N475 CPU inside. The slate will graduate to a dual-core Oak Trail CPU, and add MeeGo to the stack for a grand total of three operating systems this Q2 2011. What we know is that both Windows 7 and Android are getting eight and sixteen hours of battery life on the Oak Trail chip respectively, and the tablet weighs less than two pounds.

7-inch Android-powered DELL Tablet PC Made Public: Follow-on from the Dell Streak

No Comments Android, News

Michael Dell revealed at Oracle conference in San Francisco this week that his company is working on a 7-inch Android powered tablet PC.
Earlier this year the Dell Streak 5-inch screen tablet was launched, which we assume is the base of the new DELL tablet. Apart from a large screen, the CEO did not divulge any further information.
The company also plans to sell Streak via the popular US electronics retail chain- Best Buy, beginning this October. It sure is a departure from Dell’s regular marketing strategy.
Just when we thought the new tablet PC market was saturated, Dell UK surprised us, touchscreen tablet PC shipments are expected to top 15.4 million units in 2010.
Analysts at iSuppli forecast an increase to 76.7 million units by 2012, with companies like CES 2011 and BlackBerry launching interesting new tablets and devices like BlackPad’ 7-inch screen tablet in the near future.

Aigo’s mind-blowing sexy 7-inch N700 tablet packs Android 2.1 and Tegra 2

No Comments Android Apps, News

I can’t even believe myself when I saw the news that Aigo spotted with a  sexy 7-inch N700 tablet packs Android 2.1 and Tegra 2. Get down with your bad self. Quite frankly, we never anticipated Aigo / Patriot to come through with a me-too tablet that actually made us take a second glance, but darn if this one isn’t quite the looker. And that’s before you’ve even had a moment to digest the specifications sheet. According to new details surfacing in China, this 7-inch machine will hum along on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and feature NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 graphics chipset. There’s also 512MB of DDR2 memory, an 800 x 480 pixel multitouch display, 4/16/32GB of inbuilt storage, a USB socket, microSD slot, HDMI output, inbuilt WiFi, optional 3G WWAN, audio in / out and a 3,120mAh battery. Android 2.1 will be the OS of choice, but crucial details surrounding price and availability are sorely missing. Call us crazy, but we’ll actually be keeping an eye out for specifics on both.
We just assume that the device may in fact be a Compal NAZ-10 in disguise, and there is nothing to worry, I think everything will be in daylight when you click YouTube video , it’ll boast 16 hours of HD video playback on a single charge and a $300 price tag. Can you say “tempting?”

Dell Roadmap to Release Netbook and tablet edition

No Comments Android Apps

Dell the world leading smart device manufacturer claimed they are going to uncovered three new Android supported devices appearing in the slide are a netbook/tablet hybrid (Sparta), a sub 2 pound netbook (Athens), and finally an HD version of the previously leaked Looking Glass tablet.

The Sparta going to be a new exchangeable form factor with its screen capable of rotating within the frame. The rest of the specs are fairly standard netbook fare with a 1024 x 768 TFT screen, an Arm processor, Wifi, Bluetooth, and optional 3G. The Sparta is targeted for launch this Fall and could come sporting either Android or Moblin.

The Athens shares the Sparta’s internals, but offers a more traditional netbook body. The sub-2 pound weight is fairly impressive here as Dell’s current 10″ netbook offering comes in at 2.6 pounds, so they’ve added an inch to the screen while shaving over half a pound off the total weight. The Athens is slotted for release in time for the holiday season.

The most attractive Looking Glass Pro; the “Pro” moniker carries with it an upgraded HD screen resolution and an optional TV tuner, but otherwise it matches up with the already leaked Looking Glass. You’ll probably notice in the slide that the “LG Pro” appears with a dotted line around it unlike the others which may suggest that the Q1 2010 release timeframe is tentative.

The Engadget stated out that there are a number of details that point to this being a possibly quite old roadmap so it should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Some of the outdated references include; Bender which was the original name for the Astro File Manager, Windows Mobile rather than Windows Phone 7, and finally Moblin in place of MeeGo.

I think the Sparta be the wild card in the group; I’m looking for with high curiosity  to hear what everyone think of that form factor.
